Can Chiropractic Treatment Work For You?

Chiropractic medicine is entirely natural and drug-free. Science has proven that the effectiveness of chiropractic treatment for headaches, back pain, neck, shoulder, leg, feet and arm disorders is real. A chiropractor’s goal is to restore normalcy to the body and pain-affected areas.

Pain can be caused by nerve, muscle or skeletal disorders. Any and all of these may result in inflammation, the inability to move properly or muscle-spasms. Many people suffering from these ailments resort to over-the-counter or prescription medications. The cost of these drugs alone can make it difficult for someone suffering, to stay pain free. Chiropractic treatment can end the pain, thus the further costs to one’s pocket book and drug-effects on their body.

Daniel David Palmer founded Chiropractic in Iowa at the end of the nineteenth century. Many medical professionals condemned and fought against the right to practice this treatment. It was only in the last few decades that scientific evidence – along with satisfied patients – proved the efficacy of chiropractic medicine. Where drugs were the only option, chiropractic is now often the only answer to actually curing common pain. Many parts of the world now recognize Chiropractors as doctors.

The fact that Chiropractors are now as much doctors as dentists and family practitioners, should ease anyone’s concerns about attending a clinic. The only question that should now arise in the minds of a patient is; “What can a Chiropractor cure?” The key word here is “cure”. Often times you will read that something will “relieve” or “calm” your pain or condition. Relieving and calming are usually not curing results. If you are suffering from ongoing or debilitating pain, you will want to end it permanently. Chiropractic can do this.

Among the more common problems Chiropractors treat are low back pain and migraine or tension headaches. Whiplash injuries from a car accident can cause such pain. Although not the only cause of neck and back pain, whiplash is a sudden occurrence that can disable – or cause pain in – a victim for years to follow. Such an injury should be treated promptly.

Other than obvious injuries, unnoticed trauma to the back – like a seemingly basic slip or fall – can land a patient in the Chiropractor’s office. Low back pain can be accompanied by stiffness, numbness, leg pain, hip pain and the inability to be regularly mobile. This pain may be caused by sciatica, tight muscles, herniated discs, degenerating discs, or inflammation of the joints. You don’t necessarily need to have been hit by a train to have experienced enough trauma to cause these issues. They can occur from “non-serious” accidents.

Migraine headaches can be devastating. Most people who experience them are unable to accomplish the most basic of tasks. Even simply lying down or sleeping can be impossible. Migraines arrive with severe, throbbing pain in the head. They can be so extreme as to make the victim vomit.

Compared to migraines, tension headaches might almost be a welcomed event. They can still be debilitating. The pain can be annoying or intense enough to make it difficult to function at work or with general household chores and entertainment. No matter the intensity, both migraines and tension – or pressure – headaches are caused by some kind of trauma. There had to have been some sort of joint, neck, muscle, nerve, spine or disc injury to have triggered the onset of this pain.

Feet and arm pain might not be considered a reason to visit your Chiropractor. Many people will attend a Chiropractic clinic in order to have the doctor cure their back or neck pain. If you need drugs on a regular basis – or if other treatments have failed, you should seek chiropractic treatment for any and all of these conditions.
