How To Use An Inversion Table Successfully
If you are suffering from back pain, you may find that an inversion table can help that back pain to go away. Some people have tried inversion techniques before with little success because they have not taken the time to prepare their backs for the inversion experience.
Compressed or bulging discs are often the cause of back pain. If you have these problems, the table allows the pressure to be taken off the spine in order to allow the spine to return to its normal shape. The discs are relieved of pressure and may start to heal. This can help to stop back pain.
To prepare your back for the inversion experience you will need to do some stretching of the muscles. Once the muscles have been stretched, the inversion allows the joints of the spine to stretch slightly and take the pressure off of your back.
One stretching exercise that helps to prepare the back uses a towel roll that is about six inches in diameter. The person is seated in a chair and places the towel in his lap. Keeping the roll against the belly, the person leans forward over the towel for approximately fifty repetitions. In addition to loosening the back muscles, this will get healing blood flow back in the back.
Another effective stretching exercise is the prayer stretch. This stretch is performed on the floor. The person begins in a kneeling position and leans forward with their hands outstretched. They reach until the hands touch the floor, keeping the buttocks on the heels for the duration of the stretch. Once the position is held for thirty seconds the person should relax and do the stretch once again.
After you have strapped yourself to the table you will want to set the tilt of the table. The inversion process places your feet at a higher point than your head. You should be at a 25 degree angle. Remain in this position for 5 to 10 minutes as a minimum, but feel free to relax pain free for even longer.
An inversion table may help you to have back pain relief.
Popping pills for your back pain will only temporarily ease the discomfort, it won’t fix the underlying problem. Using a back stretching machine such as an inversion table is a much better approach. It will decompress your spine and relieve the pressure on the vertebral discs. Many people find great results with these appliances.
