Car accidents can cause many types of injuries; from minor cuts, scrapes and bruises to more serious or even fatal trauma. Many of the internal organs of the body can be damaged during a motor vehicle accident. These injuries may be more serious and require hospitalization and surgical procedures for recovery. One of the most serious internal injuries sustained in a car accident is a torn spleen, usually resulting in a lengthy hospital stay.

Broken bones are certainly not uncommon in motor vehicle accidents. Most cases of broken limbs need only be splinted or casted; however, fractures that are more serious may require surgery and physical therapy for complete recovery. Shoulder, hip and knee injuries may require such extreme measures as total replacement.

Every time we start our car, we hope we will not be involved in an automobile accident, but chances are we will be at some time. There is always a chance that we will walk away from an accident with minimal injuries, or better yet, completely unhurt.
