Several months ago I wrote an article in the chiropractic newsletter on how chronic pain can cause your brain to shrink in size. It was very informative. This article caused up quite a stir considering that so many individuals are in pain. It also brought up the question that if pain may cause your brain to shrink, is there a way to increase the size of your brain? There just may be.

Scientists found that even one year of chronic back pain can age the brain 10 to 20 years. 26 people with chronic, continuous pain of more than a year were compared with 26 healthy people. The researchers theorize that the stress of chronic pain causes “burnout shrinkage.” But that may not be a life sentence.
