With more than 6 million auto accidents on the roads annually, 3 million people are injured due to these auto accidents, and more than 1.5 million of these injuries being permanent. Injuries resulting from auto accident often go undiagnosed and untreated. Often times the pain and other symptoms of the injury are not immediately experienced at the time of the accident. These hidden injuries may be missed by emergency room physicians, as they may take weeks, months or possibly years before expressing themselves.

The neck, also referred to as the “cervical spine”, is in charge of many very important tasks. It supports the entire weight of your head (which averages about twelve pounds), it allows you to move your head in a wide range of directions, and provides you with flexibility. It is precisely because of these functions and the location of the neck, that it can be quite prone to pain and injury. If for any reason a person begins to experience neck pain, daily activities begin to suffer, as does the overall quality of life.

In San Diego, many people come to New Century Spine Centers to get rid of their neck pain. One of the most annoying things that chiropractic patients complain of is stiff neck pain, more so if it recurs often within short span of time. It is very important that you get permanent relief from this pain rather than ignoring it and taking self medication.

Although we may think that our posture is a individual preference, our parents instruction to stand up straight hold a lot of merit.
