Everyone already knows that in order to stay healthy, one needs to eat moderately, get adequate amount of sleep, and have some kind of healthy lifestyle that includes moderate activities. It is a well documented and well accepted fact that exercise is vital and essential for ensuring that all bodily systems and functions work properly. People who do not exercise on a regular basis suffer from Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Osteoporosis, and loss of muscle mass as they grow older, and also have to face the problem of obesity.

New research suggests obesity may spread through social networks like a virus, and your friends can even live hundreds of miles away! I can’t help it – it’s in my genes. That’s been the surrender slogan for many overweight and obese individuals for years. And who could blame them? Even many doctors and researchers believed your ability to lose weight – or pack on pounds – was a function of your genetic make-up.

British scientists examined 300 people who became severely obese at a young age. This research was done to determine whether a faulty gene was involved that may have caused them to become obese. Researchers were looking specifically at the gene in charge of the leptin receptor. Leptin is a hormone in the body that controls appetite and can influence how much we feel like eating. It has been formerly implicated in animal obesity studies.
