With more than 6 million auto accidents on the roads annually, 3 million people are injured due to these auto accidents, and more than 1.5 million of these injuries being permanent. Injuries resulting from auto accident often go undiagnosed and untreated. Often times the pain and other symptoms of the injury are not immediately experienced at the time of the accident. These hidden injuries may be missed by emergency room physicians, as they may take weeks, months or possibly years before expressing themselves.

Have you been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and still don’t understand where the causes of your symptoms came from? Were you just put on antidepressants or anti-inflammatory drugs? Fibromyalgia did not emerge in the medical literature until the late 20th century and to this day does not have clear diagnostic criteria. In 1990 the American College of Rheumatology published their criteria for the classification of Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS). These criteria consist of only two parts: (1) chronic, widespread pain that has been present for three months, and (2) pain elicited by palpation of specific tender points, more specifically 11 of 18 predetermined sites. Today FMS include chronic pain, specific tender points, fatigue, irritable bowel, headache, cold sensitivity, atypical patterns of sensation, exercise intolerance, anxiety, depression, dysmenorrhea, bruxism, and other symptoms associated with increased nervous system activity.

There are many factors that can contribute to groin and leg pain. This is one of the more common ailments that make people visit their doctors. Groin, back, and leg pain are experienced because of fatigue, overuse, strain, or other physical injuries. There are 5 groin muscles located in the area that joins the abdomen and the thigh or leg muscles. Any muscle pull or strain in this area can cause groin and leg pain. You might feel pain when you walk or when you sit down. In some serious cases, any movement of the hip or leg can cause severe pain.

Successful weight loss is not just a matter of losing pounds. The emphasis needs to be on abandoning body fat and avoiding loss of lean body tissue, primarily muscle mass. Why is this the key to long-term success? Because muscle requires 15 times the energy compared to fat to survive (7.5 Calories per day for muscle versus 0.5 calories per day for fat). The more lean tissue, the more calories one can consume once desirable body weight is achieved. Overall, a moderate diet of at least 1000 calories of high quality food per day and exercise is clearly the best approach because 80% of the weight lost is fat. This plan protects lean body mass, which is critical to keep from gaining the weight back again.
