Our society is always seeking ways of pain relief. In fact the number one method of pain relief is taking drugs. This is by far the most common method, but few people even know the second most common method. Any Guesses? Did you guess massage therapy? Yes, massage therapy is the second most common method to relieve pain.

Drugs are so prevalent as a means of pain relief, that many people do not even realize that there are other options. In fact there are natural ways that do not build up the dependence that taking certain drugs or medications can cause. Massage therapy is a natural method that has been used effectively for centuries. Massage therapy not only relaxes the body, but it helps to clear the mind and even to increase awareness.

Since there are a variety of aches, pains and sore spots on the body, many massage treatments have evolved to target particular types of issues. Some of the common treatments are Swedish, Acupressure, Sports Massage, Reflexology and Shiatsu. These very effective techniques and practices have been successfully replicated in today’s massage chairs.

Massage chairs are starting to become more main stream as a legitimate health enhancer. The massage therapies are replicated with great precision to deliver effective relief. They offer full body massage capabilities and can cover you from head to toe.

Massage chairs are massage therapy machines. They have a different economic than human labor does. For instance, a $2,000 massage chair will have a minimum life span of 1,000 hours. The economics per hour of massage is $2.00 per hour. By contrast, a human massage therapist runs $50.00 per hour without a tip. A massage chair has an upfront cost which is then amortized over a long life versus paying a high cost per hour for a masseuse.

Another important factor in our lives today is time. We never have enough of it. Many of us just do not have time to run down to the spa for an hour massage. But with a massage chair, you get tremendous convenience. You can just sit down and take a quick 10 minute massage any time you like. No appointments and no driving.

The best thing about massage chairs today is the tremendous variety of massage techniques and treatments that are available. You can get a sports massage to warm up for exercise. You can get a sports massage after playing a strenuous sport. Try a shiatsu massage to relax and invigorate your body. For more pain relief, you can get a deep tissue massage that penetrates thoroughly into the muscles.

The best brands like Omega, Sanyo and Panasonic make amazing massage chairs. These relaxation machines help to calm, soothe and relax your body. They have penetrating massage therapies for pain relief and more subtle techniques to relax and invigorate muscles. These companies also add complimentary therapies such as heat, stretching and even music players.

We all have aches, pains and tightness. Do not just head for the medicine cabinet. Check out some natural remedies that can help get to the root of the problem rather than symptom relief. Massage therapy is a natural way to ease aches, pains and other discomforts. Help not just your body to relax, but also your mind. Be refreshed and rejuvenated. Find out how a massage chair can be an effective method of pain relief.

Get effective Pain Relief with a Massage Chair specializing in massage therapy treatments. Experience the tremendous convenience of having an arsenal of massage therapy at your constant disposal.

As people today get older, they are afflicted by bodily aches and pains that come about because of either physical accidents or ailments. A major issue is getting up in the morning with an tender back which doesn’t want to disappear for the entire day. Sad to say, rather then getting better, this issue even now appears to be happening to numerous men and women all over the world. The great thing is that one could minimize the incidents of an painful back by owning a good memory foam mattress that you can sleep on at night. You can also use a quality back support pillow during the day, especially if you are working at an office job that requires you to sit for many hours at a time.

Why You Should Consider A Memory Foam Mattress

Memory foam, often also referred to as visco-elastic foam, was initially created by researchers for use by astronauts launched into space by NASA. Considering the ability of the memory foam to deform itself under weight or temperature, it has the ability to give you a far better cushioning benefit for the incredible pressures which astronauts encountered through the take off. Exactly what really goes on is that air in the foam is spread out into adjacent cells as pressure is put on to a place on the mattress. This results in a shock reduction benefit and that melting sensation if you lie down on a memory foam mattress.

So what does this have to do with your back pains and aches?

Should you be getting up every day with an aching back, a huge factor why you experience this is you are using a low-quality mattress. The bed probably does not provide you adequate support, or it is actually really old and ought to be replaced. Your back muscles ache because your sleeping position during the night time is actually horrible. The muscle groups have got to work in order to keep your spinal column in its natural position as much as possible, therefore while you are asleep your back muscles are usually straining to help keep a good resting alignment. This is also true when your mattress is possibly way too hard till it is like taking a nap on the ground, or it is actually too soft until there isn’t adequate support to help keep correct spine alignment.

Since your back muscles are functioning in the night, it is no shock you encounter back aches the next day!

To help keep a healthy sleeping posture together with good healthy alignment of one’s backbone, a lot of people have turned to sleeping on foam mattresses. The body is actually held in the proper posture whenever you toss and turn through the night. A memory foam mattress while using right density will help the body if you are sleeping on your back or should you be resting on your side. How this operates is bulkier parts of your body sink further into the foam even though the lighter places will not sink as much. You’re able to experience a smaller amount pressure points as the weight is disseminated much more equally. Need to get up in the morning without having more back aches and pains? Then you certainly must take a look at a memory foam mattress for your subsequent bed.

Stop suffering from back aches and horrible mornings! Check out what a memory foam matress can do for you.

Although we may think that our posture is a individual preference, our parents instruction to stand up straight hold a lot of merit.

Although we may think that our posture is a personal preference, our parents admonition to stand up straight hold a lot of merit.

These continuous reminders may have infuriated us but good posture creates more than just an appearance of confidence, it affects our physical condition.

Proper posture means our muscles, joints, ligaments and nerves are able to operate as they should ? and without interference. Sure, we are supposed to be flexible ? but being crooked, bent or just hunched over means we are working against our optimal design.

In modern society many activities result in non-neutral body positions, such as computer work, driving, and TV watching, the main result being forward head placement. These non neutral positions result in much stress and strain on your neck and shoulder muscles, often leading to pain, discomfort and headaches.

Now think of your head as a twelve to fifteen pound bowling ball. Kind of heavy, is it not?

Imagine holding that bowling ball out from the top of your body just an inch or two. It might be easy to hold it straight above of your shoulders, but repositioning it out just a little bit becomes quite a lot of work and the bowling ball gets heavy real soon, does it not?

The best position for your head is therefore a no-brainer and it is supposed to be right over the top of your neck and shoulders. And if we hold our heads forward even 1 inch in front of its normal position, our neck has to work quite a lost harder to hold it there (think of the bowling ball).

Prolonged strain and pressure on your neck can be bad as a severe automobile accident. As a doctor, I have seen this in patient after patient. The discs in the neck can become herniated from the unusual pressure and forward positioning. The muscles in the front of the neck are overworked and shortened while those in the back of your neck is stretched and strained.

If you are feeling neck pain, shoulder pain or headaches, it may be from incorrect posture, but there are some actions that you can take to help yourself.

Its about YOU!

Understanding your problems will come from assessing your special situation.

So before you begin doing any exercises, buy that special chair, back support or whatever ? before you spend any money on resolving your problem ? get a professional assessment of your situation. Chiropractors are specially-trained in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system ? a fancy way of saying that they know a thing or two about posture.

So, your first step is to have your posture by a chiropractor.

Even before you go see your chosen chiropractor, a straightforward posture check that you can do at home is easily performed to rapidly identify some key issues. To complete this test stand with your back towards the wall about six inches away, back up and note which body parts reaches the wall first.

1) head

2) Shoulders

3) Derriere

4) Heels

If all four of body parts did not touch the wall at the same time ? then you failed the test and your posture needs work.

Your muscles are responsible for your posture and some simple stretching and strengthening can help these muscles begin functioning optimally again.

If you noticed that your shoulders failed to reach first you can focus on stretching your pectoral or chest muscles. Stretching these muscles is as easy as locating a door frame then standing in the doorway and holding one arm up so that the door frame is at the elbow part of your arm, slowly step forward until you feel the stretch across your chest. Repeat this with the other arm. This stretch will open your chest and your shoulders will no longer be hunching forward.

If your posture includes significant forward head position, your head will not have touched first. This can be corrected by lengthening the muscles in the front of your neck and strengthening the ones in the back with a simple chin tuck. Start by standing or sitting straight up and pull your chin back towards your body using your neck muscles, and hold for 5-15 seconds and return to the initial location.

Doing the right exercises to correct your posture is STEP TWO of the solution.

Fortunately for most of us easy movements and awareness of posture reduce neck pain. For others though, additional chiropractic treatment is warranted, especially for long standing postural issues that went unattended for years.

Unfortunately, the body has no natural way to dispose of scar tissue ? and neither can you exercise it away. However, various methods have been developed to remove scar tissue from inside your body. Chiropractors knowledgeable in either Active Release Techniques and the Graston Technique will be able to eliminate your scar tissue so that proper posture can be restored.

The old admonition to stand up straight holds true, not only to improve your posture, but also your health. Professional Chiropractors are available to evaluate you and your posture, give suggestions, and treat you, all in the hopes of improving your overall health.

Surprisingly, millions of people remain misinformed regarding chiropractic care. There are numerous fallacies that have taken root over the years, and remain widely-believed today. Our goal in this article is to clarify some of the most common misconceptions, and dispel several persistent myths.

1 – “Chiropractic Care Is Designed For Treating Back Pain”

In reality, chiropractors seek to treat dozens of ailments, many of which may initially appear unrelated to the spinal cord and vertebral column. Examples include foot pain, headaches, shin splints, and even carpal tunnel syndrome. Many athletes rely upon ongoing chiropractic therapy to treat conditions, such as swimmer’s shoulder, tennis elbow, and other sports injuries.

A lot of people are surprised to discover that treatment is available for these, and other, disorders. Also noteworthy, because care is focused on an ailment’s trigger – rather than its symptoms – relief is typically longer lasting.

2 – “Chiropractic Care Poses Serious Risks”

This fallacy seems to be the result of an overly-enthusiastic media. There are no studies that conclusively show treatment leads to negative outcomes. Instead, there are rare incidents that have somehow become examples of unsafe methods. Given the number of spinal adjustments and joint manipulations performed each year, and the near-nonexistent incident rate of side effects, the persistence of this myth is odd.

Most medical treatments for back pain, joint inflammation, and related injuries are far riskier, and pose much more severe side effects.

3 – “Chiropractic Care Requires Frequent, Perpetual Adjustments”

In some cases, yes. In other cases, definitely not. The basis of a chiropractor’s approach is to realign vertebrae that have moved out of their natural positions. This can occur due to several factors. For example, if you are involved in an auto accident, there is a good chance your spine will move slightly out of alignment. This is also the case if you fall, sit with poor posture for extended periods, or cope with stress that manifests in the way you hold your shoulders.

Your chiropractor can realign your vertebrae, but many factors can cause them to become misaligned again. When this happens, a realignment is necessary. Contrast this approach with prescription medications and invasive surgery. While these forms of treatment may initially seem effective, they often do more harm than good.

4 – “The Chiropractor Might Paralyze Me”

This is akin to claiming a surgeon might amputate the wrong limb, or remove the wrong lung. Can it happen? Perhaps. But the incident would be considered bizarre and outside the scope of normal chiropractic care.

5 – “Chiropractic Care Is Cost-Prohibitive”

The treatment offered by a trained chiropractor is cost-effective for most people. This is especially true when compared to the exorbitant costs associated with conventional medical care. Moreover, hundreds of insurance companies already offer coverage for various treatments. When insurance is unavailable, most chiropractors are willing to extend flexible payment plans to ensure you receive the treatment you need.

6 – “Kids Should Not Receive Chiropractic Care”

Many people – parents and non-parents alike – believe spinal adjustments are inappropriate for children. Kids place much more stress on their bodies than adults. Thus, there is a greater likelihood their vertebrae will become misaligned during the course of horseplay, falling down, and general rough-housing. For this reason, children are ideal candidates for an examination to check whether their spine is aligned, or if an adjustment is warranted. It is not uncommon for kids to cope with back and joint pain that dissipates quickly after receiving treatment.

There are, of course, many other common fallacies surrounding chiropractic care. Some claim chiropractors lack specialized education and training (false). Others claim a lack of efficacy of the treatments (also false). These myths, and others, are easily debunked. If you’re considering chiropractic care, do your due diligence. Take the time to seek clarification of any concerns you have about the methods used. Most chiropractors are happy to answer your questions.

It can be seen that a main fraction of today’s workers labor in an office. These workers may have different jobs and have various professions. Examples of such workers are financial workers, secretaries, analysts, writers, bankers, managers, and executives. They perform different jobs, but one thing is common between them: They spend most of their time at work sitting on a chair behind a table or desk.

What is so relevant about this fact? Isn’t being in an office more relaxed than a blue-collar job? It may be the perception of some people, but what isn’t clear is that all office workers are at risk for back pain. The long periods of sitting down puts unnecessary pressure on the lower back, which tenses the back muscles and strains the spine. Also, a lot of workers have no notion of proper posture and reside in their positions with bad posture. Bad posture for long periods of time is sure to negatively impact the back and will only hasten the onset of back pain.

This is where chiropractic therapy can help. Chiropractic therapy is a form of alternative medicine that emphasizes the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of musculoskeletal diseases, with focus on the spine. The fundamental concept of chiropractic therapy is that improving the health of the spine through physical manipulation leads to the better health of the nervous system. As a result, the general health is also improved as well.

Chiropractors specialize on spinal adjustment, which is the most common treatment in chiropractic therapy. This encompasses approaches that are employed to manipulate, mobilize, massage, and stimulate the spine and its related tissues. Especially for office workers, spinal realignment would be very helpful. This technique seeks to correct the curvature of the spine, especially when it has an abnormal orientation. Through spinal realignment, the normal curvature of the spine is restored.

Another goal of chiropractic therapy is to restore the flexibility of the spine. Flexibility returns the proper function of this region. As a result, cartilage does not decay and other tissues are not compressed. A flexible spine is more durable to pain, injury, and degradation. Losing flexibility has been associated with spinal decay, degenerative arthritis, degenerative disc disease, and other disorders that result in back pain.

Everyone needs to work, but that doesn’t mean that we have to neglect our health too. Sitting in a chair all day can lead to back pain, so make sure to consult a chiropractor. Chiropractic therapy is an ideal and very effective technique for reducing back pain.

Many people complain about acute lower back pain. Around 80% of the US population is said to be affected by it and around 50% suffer from more than one episode of this condition. However, as opposed to what many people believe it is, acute lower back pain is not a disease but rather a symptom that may arise from different medical conditions. As a matter of fact, 7 out of 10 people with this condition had gone through medical evaluations but no specific cause was identified. Nonetheless, incidences or reasons as to why this pain attacks exist. Continue reading this article to get to know them.

Injuries or diseases in the muscles, spinal nerves, and bones are some of the reasons or factors that trigger acute lower back pain. It could also be triggered by abnormalities in the chest, abdomen, pelvis, or other organs, all of which are characterized by the pain in the back. Lower back pain may also be caused by bladder infections, ovarian disorders, pelvic infections, aneurysm, appendicitis, kidney diseases, and other intra-abdominal disorders. Even pregnant women can experience acute lower back pain. Back pain in pregnancy is due to irritation of the nerves, strain and pressure placed on the lower back, and stretching of the pelvis ligaments. All these are important factors that will help in the evaluation and diagnosis of your condition.

Nerve impingement, a condition caused by ruptured or herniated disc between the lower back bones, may be characterized by symptoms including acute lower back pain. One example of this condition is called sciatica, manifested by acute lower back pain together with other symptoms like numbness in the area of the leg where the affected nerve supplies blood. Spondylosis, a condition caused by the decrease in the disc height and loss of moisture and volume of the interverterbral discs due to aging, may also be characterized by acute lower back pain. Other cases that may be characterized by this symptom include minor physical trauma from similar circumstances.

Lower back pain symptoms may also manifest if you have spinal stenosis, with pain characterized as radiating down to the lower extremities of the body, particularly when standing or walking at a prolonged period of time. Acute lower back pain may also be caused by cauda equine syndrome, a medical emergency that occurs when the spinal cord is directly compressed. Back pain symptoms may also signal myofascial pain accompanied by tenderness in affected areas, immobile muscle groups, and pain in the peripheral nerves.

Acute lower back pain may also be triggered by other medical conditions such as tumors, fibromyalgia, osteomyelitis, and inflammation of the nerves. Tumors are said to be the number one culprit to acute lower back pain. Fibromyalgia s signaled by symptoms such as muscle aches, lower back pain, fatigue, generalized stiffness, and tenderness and pain in the body. Symptoms of osteomyelitis include spine pain and tenderness, while nerve inflammation symptoms include upper and lower back pain and shingles in the spine.

The conditions mentioned above are some of the factors that trigger acute lower back pain. It is never right to make assumptions, so if you feel any of the symptoms mentioned above, consult with your doctor immediately.

Many people are becoming more aware of the health benefits of using massage chairs on a regular basis. Massage is no longer the exclusive domain of luxury spas and upscale health clubs. Now you can find massage chair therapy offered in businesses, clinics, hospitals and even in airports. Many are recognizing the important health benefits of using massage chairs on a regular basis.

The term massage is a general term covering a variety of techniques for manipulating the soft tissues of the body. Many massage therapists use their hands, fingers, elbows and arms to provide a massage treatment. They have found that a variety of different techniques provide a host of different health benefits.

Although massage has been performed by humans for centuries, technology has now made massage chairs widely available. There are many repetitive motions required and massage. This can cause fatigue in a massage therapist. A massage chair, on the other hand, never tires and performs the massage to the same level of pressure and intensity at the beginning or at the end of the massage.

One of the drawbacks of only getting massages from a massage therapist is time. Many people simply do not have enough time in their schedule to run to the health spa at a predetermined time to receive their treatments. This leads to people getting infrequent massages and diminishes the health benefits.

Massage chairs, on the other hand, provide you with unprecedented access to massage therapy. A massage chair is ready and waiting 24 hours a day to provide relief. This is a very important point in that you can receive a massage on demand. Here are some of the important health benefits of using a massage chair on a regular basis.

Relief Of Stress: Many recent studies are showing that people are under more stress today than ever before. It is important to relieve stress in its early stages. A massage chair is a perfect way to reduce the affects of stress as it begins.

Anxiety: Many of us are experiencing more anxiety. There seems to be a lot more uncertainty in the world. This results in our bodies becoming more fatigued and eventually leads to stiffness and pain. Massage chairs are a great way to reduce the affects of anxiety while it is in its early stages.

Relief Of Pain: Get relief of pain on demand with massage chair therapy. Massage is a natural way to relieve pain. It also helps to improve flexibility of the muscle tissues and joints. This is a great way to relieve pain naturally.

Stiffness: Many of us experience stiffness throughout the day. There are now many jobs requiring repetitive motions or sitting in the same position for long hours. This can cause fatigue in the muscles which leads to stiffness and pain. Massage chairs are a great way to combat this situation in its early stages to reduce stiffness in the body.

Relaxing: As we are coming under more stress in our lives, it is even more important to have relaxing time. Relaxation is a key to health and longevity. It is a natural way to induce healing and restore vitality in the body.

Why not get the convenience of regular massage treatments in your home? A massage chair is the perfect complement to your health routine. These recliners are perfect for warming up or warming down. They are always available and ready to serve your massage therapy needs.

These are just some of the more frequently cited Massage Chair Health Benefits. Find out how you can relieve aches, pain and discomfort 24/7 with a Health Massage Chair in the convenience of home.

Examiners in Chicago have discovered new clues into what role the mind plays in long-term back ache. And chiropractic doctors in San Diego are putting a new twist on the subject. The investigators in the study used magnetic resonance imaging mind scans to compare the morphology of 26 individuals with long-term back ache with 26 ache-free control subjects.

According to the report patients with chronic low back pain showed 5-11% less neocortical gray matter volume than control subjects. The magnitude of this reduction is equivalent to the gray matter volume lost in 10-20 years of normal aging. The reduced volume was related to length of pain, indicating a 1.3 cm (3) loss of gray matter for every year of chronic pain experienced.

It has been stated that for the management of low-back pain, chiropractic care is the most effective treatment, and it should be fully integrated into the government’s health care system.” This was noted in The Manga Report in1993. Disc herniations have been shown to be reduced by chiropractic adjustments and spinal decompression therapy. Cervical and lumbar disc herniations are commonly encountered in clinical chiropractic practice.

Clinical studies and case reports have addressed the efficiency of chiropractic management for disc herniations and bulges. Imaging studies have shown disc re-absorption on follow-up CT or MRI subsequent to non-operative medical care.

An MRI study of 27 patients receiving chiropractic treatment for cervical and lumbar disc herniations was presented at the Conference Proceedings of the Chiropractic Centennial Foundation, Washington, DC, July 1995. Clinical studies and case reports have addressed the efficiency of chiropractic management for disc herniations. Imaging studies have shown disc re-absorption on follow-up CT or MRI subsequent to non-operative medical care. Of the 27 patients studied by repeat MRI, VAS and physical exam, 22 or 80 percent had a good clinical outcome. This consisted of reduced VAS scores below 2 and resolution of the patient’s radicular pain. Seventeen of these 27 patients, or 63 percent, not only had a good clinical outcome but had evidence of resolution or reduction of disc herniations evident on repeated MRI. This was found in the study by Ben Eliyahu, DJ.

When you get adjusted, you remove interference to the master control system of the body – the nervous system – thereby enabling the body and brain to function at their maximum potential. Chiropractic care by specialized chiropractors and spinal decompression therapy has helped countless individuals suffering from back and leg pain. As you can see from this article, back pain causes more than just pain. It causes lost days from work, stress, and more.

If you hurt from neck and back pain, you know how debilitating it can be. It isn’t just the matter of the hurt, it is how personal relationships can become strained, how miss work, and how much you spend trying to fix your pain. Dealing with it is not an option. You need to find things that will help you relieve the pain. There are several different things you can do. Effective things to try are working out, yoga and tai chi, a supportive pillow at night, and lumbar support during the day.

The first matter you should look into is starting an exercise routine. It isn’t something that you want to speed into, however. If you exercise vigorously, you may pull a muscle. This can be a severe setback and result in more pain. You should, nonetheless, start exercise because a sedentary lifestyle can make your present aches worse. Look for a DVD or a book that gives healthy exercises for people with back pain. You can also speak to your physical therapist or doctor for extra tips. By taking your time and starting small, you’ll see improvements faster.

Two gentle types of exercise that might be good for you are tai chi and yoga. They work on both raising your strength and your flexibility. Both of these are vital if you want long term respite from the hurts. Just as with more vigorous exercise, you’ll want to go slowly. Expert forms of yoga can lead to brand new injuries. Novice courses, however, are normally acceptable to everyone irrespective of physical well being and age. You can start with books or DVDs, but try looking for a local class that will fit your requirements. Again, it is always a good idea to speak to your doctor before you begin.

The kind of pillow that you use can also affect your neck and back pain. Because of this, you’ll want to buy one that gives you the support that you require to wake up in no pain. Don’t get pillows that are too thin or too soft. Neither of those are capable of holding your neck correctly. You’ll need a firm pillow and possibly one that is specifically made to ease neck pain. While these may be more costly, they cost far less than a lifetime of pain medicine or lowered work productivity. Read the directions on your new pillow. You might want to try it out for short periods before using it for a full night. During the daytime, keep supporting your back. A lumbar pillow is essential for when you are in the car or at a desk. If you do a lot of standing, look into a back brace.

These steps won’t always work, but it is smart to try them before looking into more serious solutions. Working with your physician closely will help you cure your back without needing an operation. It won’t happen instantaneously, but you should see a gradual improvement.

Begin your pain free life by getting the right pillows. Before you buy, you’ll want to read some reviews to decide on the best one for you. Check out pillows for neck pain and bed rest pillows to find one that matches your needs.
