In this day and age, there is a continuous push towards individual states legalizing cannabis medicinally. Sixteen states have legalized it and ten more states have it on the horizon. It remains illegal federally and is a Schedule 1 narcotic.

Chronic pain is the most common reason patients seek to use medicinal marijuana. This is not surprising considering over 1/3 of Americans are dealing with some soft of chronic pain situation. It is now understood that certain strains of marijuana act favorably towards reducing a patient’s pain. Is there a dose effect? Meaning is medicinal marijuana effective to a certain amount/dose and then does it become counterproductive above that?

Low energy lasers came into existence in the 1960’s in Europe and Russia. the clinical effects are not from heating up of tissues but come from the low intensities of irradiation.

Deciding whether or not to have surgery for degenerative disc disease is an elective decision. No one ever died from having severe degenerative disc disease (DDD), so in that regard it is similar to arthritis.

Millions of Americans are affected by degenerative disc disease. It is not a fatal condition and surgery is not absolutely necessary. There is an important cushioning, shock absorbing function played by the intervertebral discs. Between each vertebra there is a disc which is mostly water and collagen. All together these discs allow significant range of motion. Just consider all of the various ways your back can twist and turn.
