<p>The fruit is the sea buckthorn berry and advertisers are going crazy because it was mentioned on the Dr. Oz show. What the wonderful  magic of advertising it really is.  You have to love how the magical cures are never found in someone&#8217;s backyard in the middle of the United States.  It&#8217;s always halfway across the world, usually in a rainforest. Well, now there is a tiny Tibetan fruit that is claimed to help people lose weight without any other kind of diet of exercise. </p>
<p>Dr Oz claims that sea buckthorn oil is a healthy supplement that aids in digestion and has antioxidant properties similar to Vitamin C. But beyond that you have to look into it. Here&#8217;s what some others had to say about the issue, &#8220;Sea buckthorn oil is a helpful antioxidant, but fitness author Rusty Moore warns us to be skeptical of some of the claims websites are making. <p>A new study from the Worcester Polytechnic Institute is finally shedding some light on the secrets of Cranberry juice&#8217;s bacteria fighting strength. The &#8220;bad&#8221; E. Coli have little arm-like appendages that grab onto and anchor themselves to the cells of the urinary tract. According to researchers, 95% of UTIs are a pathogenic strain of the same E. Coli bacteria found in the intestines.</p>
<p>These tiny anchors are important because without them, every time you went to the bathroom, the force of your urine would simply flush the bacteria out of your body. As soon as the E. Coli get a good grip on the Urinary Tract cell walls &#8211; they start multiplying.</p>
<p>What&#8217;s amazing is E. Coli doubles in number in one hour and it only takes a few hours to cause an infection. These are fast Moving Little Buggers! Here&#8217;s the new theory from all of this: Cranberries contain large amounts of a chemical called proanthocyanidin or PAC. PAC functions almost like a shield that blocks the arms or anchors of E. Coli from sticking to the cells in the urinary tract. These shields actually make the &#8220;anchors&#8221; crumble when they try to attach themselves to the urinary tract.</p>
<p>An Ounce Of Prevention Is Worth A Pound Of Cranberries&#8230; Here is something very important: According to the research, Cranberries&#8217; &#8220;shields&#8221; were only effective at preventing a UTI. In other words, cranberry &#8220;shields&#8221; only worked when E. Coli was trying to attach itself &#8211; once it was attached, cranberries did not have the same affect. According to the researchers, &#8220;Cranberry juice seems more effective at preventing future bacterial infections than treating an existing one.&#8221; The study was published online on June 21 in the journal, Molecular Nutrition &amp; Food Research.</p>

BMI is calculated from a person&#8217;s weight and height, and provides a reasonable indicator of body fatness and weight categories that may lead to health problems. Obesity is a major risk factor for conditions such as cardiovascular disease, certain types of cancer, and Type 2 Diabetes.</p>
<p>Thirty-three states had prevalence equal to or greater than 25%; nine of these states (Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and West Virginia) had a prevalence of obesity equal to or greater than 30%.&#8221; According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), &#8220;During the past 20 years, there has been a dramatic increase in obesity in the United States. In 2009, only Colorado and the District of Columbia had a prevalence of obesity less than 20%. </p>
<p>Obviously, obesity is a big problem, but, what if a treatment is worse than the &#8220;Disease?&#8221; This may be the case, according to a study on the long-term effects of laparoscopic gastric band surgery. Researchers of the study, published in the Archives of Surgery, said, &#8220;The bands eroded in almost one in three patients. Sixty percent had undergone additional surgery, including 17 percent who went on to have gastric bypass.&#8221; Researchers concluded the adjustable gastric band surgery, which is growing in popularity in the United States, &#8220;appears to result in relatively poor long-term outcomes.&#8221;</p>
<p>A related article in The New York Times added that the results &#8220;are worse than we expected.&#8221; Dr. Himpens advised those considering gastric band surgery not to &#8220;nourish exaggerated expectations.&#8221;  He added that &#8220;anyone who has had the procedure should see a care provider on a regular basis and be vigilant about signs of infection or band erosion.&#8221;</p>
