Have you ever wondered why it is that people get so much help while seeing a chiropractor? In my career I have been lucky enough to be able to follow the progression of research that has revealed the answer to this very question. The answer lies in the vast amount of research that has been done over the last 20 years on the nervous system and the brain. In this research we have uncovered that the reason the chiropractic adjustment is so powerful is that it affects the nervous system which is what allows us to sense pain.

The latest information does not come from Grandma Smith’s Home Book of Healthy Remedies but from the most prestigious orthopedic journal in the world, Spine. Three recent articles in this medical journal (The Impact of Positive Sagittal Balance in Adult Spinal Deformity (Spine Journal), Spinal Kyphosis Causes Demyelination and Neuronal Loss in the Spinal Cord: A New Model of Kyphotic Deformity (Spine Journal) and A hypothesis of chronic back pain: ligament subfailure injuries lead to muscle control dysfunction (European Spine Journal) ) not only have a lot of big words in their titles but they confirm the concept that the shape of your spine determines the function of your body.

As a chiropractor in San Diego who treats many headache sufferers, you’d think that most would think there’s a shortage of aspirin in their body leading to the cause of the headache. There are, however, many safe and effective treatment options for headaches. Some of them have been around for many years, and they have absolutely nothing to do with drugs surgery.
