If you have gone through a muscle injury or a muscle spasm you know that the process of dealing with the acute pain and discomfort is never an easy one. For the avid sportsperson, having the cold therapy gel in your bag at all times is something you should consider doing. The good thing about the cold therapy gel is the simple fact that, it is available in the markets and drug stores at relatively low prices, hence is affordable to most people. The numbing effect that the gel offers, gives immediate relief that most people will always be desperately looking for, in cases when an injury occurs.

In the sports world, the use of a cold therapy gel is quite common. The cold therapy gel is basically defined as one that is designed to reduce pain by offering topical pain relief through the application of cold substances to offer relief to a given injury. When the ice gel is applied to the injured part, relief is quickly offered and most importantly, the application greatly helps reduce inflammation, should it be found present. The fact that such inflammation causes the injured part to heat up, calls for a gel that can help cool down the heat. The cold therapy gel will with no doubt, help one in achieving this purpose, with no other required efforts. The ice gel will also seek to eliminate the discomfort that is caused by the increased heat in the injured area, with its cooling effect but is not as convenient to use.

Some of the other added advantages of using Cold Therapy are that it reduces both external and internal bleeding. The gel or ice pack achieves this function by forcing the blood vessels to constrict, which consequently enhances the speed of blood clotting. The most interesting fact is that, the use of this gel prevents the death of the cells to a large extent.

By offering the cooling effect, which causes the constricting the blood vessels, a metabolic balance is achieved since the oxygen requirements are abruptly reduced, hence the cells will not die due to lack of enough oxygen. Having the gel applied on the injured body part, is not rocket science. All you are required to do is place the gel on to the injured part, as soon as the injury occurs. Before use, you should ensure that it has been kept in the freezer for at least two hours.

The cold therapy gel should be applied for the first three days after an injury, for it to create an analgesic effect that in turn speeds up the recovery process. Using cold first, also prevents bruising that results from fluid build up. For best results, always ensure that the kind of gel you choose to use is from a reputable brand. Check the customer reviews for the best recommendations. Such reviews will help you avoid mediocre gels that won’t stay cold as long as the quality products. With all the therapeutic advantages of the cold therapy gel, it is time you purchased one for the home and your sports bag and treat injuries in the most cost effective way.

Cold therapy and ice therapy is an effective way to eliminate aching joint pains and back pain relief. Try a topical pain relief or analgesic gel from Cryosoothe – a leader in pain relief products.

Accidents happen all the time. The frequency tends to increase with people involved in active sports or in employment that requires quite a bit of movement. Using cold therapy gel is one of the ways in which cryotherapy can be utilized to handle such problems when they arise. There are good benefits to using ice gel to offer topical pain relief. The most notable one is the near instant relief it offers when applied to the injured part. It helps eliminate or reduce inflammation if it present. It also helps cool down the injured body part since the inflammation usually causes the injury to heat up. Ice gel will therefore help reduce the uncomfortable heat increment.

There are various substances that can be used to offer cold therapy but the best is the gelatinous substance. The gel inside the cold pack will get colder faster than most substances. It is also more comfortable than using crushed ice due to its gelatinous form. A number of cold packs and wrap designs have been made to accommodate for some of the most common injuries. It is easy to acquire a cold wrap made specifically for the ankle or the knee. There are also some cold bags that contain cold therapy gel and can be used on any body part to provide topical pain relief.

Cold therapy is the use of ice or any cold substance to offer relief from injuries. This is mostly utilized in sport where such injuries are a regular occurrence. The use of cold therapy is one of the stages proposed in the R.I.C.E. (Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation) principle. Cold therapy has made good use of cold wraps to successfully use cold wraps and as a result achieve the Ice as well as Compression requirements for the RICE principle. The resultant method, the cold compression therapy will reduce the amount of pain felt from sports or activity related injury on the soft tissues of the body.

The use of cryotherapy has been fundamental in the treatment of other certain injuries. It does this by reducing the amount of bleeding if there is any. The coldness forces the blood vessels to constrict enabling the clotting agents to work better. When the blood vessels become constricted from the cold, the oxygen requirements for the cells are reduced to maintain a metabolic balance. This will prevent cell death due to loss of oxygen lost in the blood.

Cold therapy gel is placed directly onto the injured body part. To offer instant topical relief from pain, it would be better if this was done as soon as the injury happened. The cold therapy gel pack ought to be cold when put on, so it is advisable to have one in the fridge just in case. Some of them are can also be used as hot therapy gel packs. They only need to be heated up in some boiling water or in a microwave. The cold therapy gel can be very useful for sprains or injuries that happen at home. This is why every home should have such a product. It is however not advised to use cold therapy for people who have Reynaud’s Phenomenon or have cold hypersensitivity.

Then check out the latest pain relief gel from http://www.cryosoothe.ca – a leader in pain relief products and ice gels.

Participating is sports has many health benefits. Unfortunately, any sports activity carries a risk of injury. A sprained ligament, strained tendon, or pulled muscle can be a source of debilitating pain. If left untreated, even minor sports injuries may lead to joint instability, weak joints and muscles, or impaired mobility. A Raleigh chiropractic clinic can offer help to ease pain and speed recovery.

Chiropractors work with all kinds of sports injuries, including those caused by trauma and those caused by repetitive stress. Some of the most common problems are muscle spasms or cramps, sprains and strains, tennis elbow, and sciatica. Athletes also frequently suffer from chronic muscle pain, particularly in the neck and shoulders, legs, or lower back.

Chiropractors seek to address the underlying cause of pain in order to alleviate it. They perform physical examinations and review x-rays to pinpoint the source of the problem. They also consult with the patient about their lifestyle, medical history, and sports performance.

Gentle manipulations are used to relieve painful pressure on nerves, loosen stiff muscles, free up joints, or realign the spine. Afterwards, the chiropractor will discuss a rehabilitation plan with the patient to help stabilize the condition and prevent flare-ups. Daily exercises may be recommended to restore strength and flexibility.

Chiropractors routinely advise sports participants about how to avoid becoming injured in the future. They can recommend improvements to stance and posture or suggest warm-up exercises and useful stretches. They can even demonstrate how to avoid repetitive stress by using the correct grip on sports equipment.

If you’ve sustained a sports injury, a full evaluation at a Raleigh chiropractic clinic can help prevent further damage. In the meantime, there are steps you can take to reduce pain and swelling. Apply ice to the affected area and elevate it if possible. Avoid putting pressure on the injury and support painful joints with an elastic bandage.

Sports injuries are a nightmare for all athletes. You are lucky if it is only one and not multiple stemming from a single cause. I understand what it feels like to be injured from sports as I had to stop running because of a terrible knee problem.

It’s important to be able to tell the difference between chronic pain and simply being sore. Both will take a little time to figure out, but usually soreness will peak and then improve. Muscle soreness is temporary and passes so don’t be too quick to make a doctor’s appointment. If the soreness lasts more than a week, then you should contact your doctor. Another clue that you have a chronic injury is if the pain gets worse or is present all the time. You have to really pay attention to what your body is telling you.

Recovery time for your feet can be very long, making it one of the worst injuries to sustain. Some of the most common are bruises to the heel, stress fractures and ligament strains. There’s also the common injury of a sprained or twisted ankle, that usually takes many years to heal. The important point to remember with foot injuries is to stay off that hurt foot.

Or you may be told you’re not allowed to participate in your sport and you might be required to undergo additional therapy. It’s immensely important to do exactly what the doctor tells you as you can’t rush your body’s healing process. At this point you must feed your body and let it rest.

If you need physical therapy, be sure to go to every appointment. Your physical therapist is the one who will help you get back into the game faster. You can also discuss any thoughts you have about your injury with your therapist during these appointments. Chances are excellent that person is educated in the psychological aspects of healing and can offer good advice. You will at least get an unbiased opinion about your concerns. While you want to avoid beating up your therapist with your bad moods, it can help to unload a little to someone who understands.

Coping with any type of sports injury can be hard both mentally and physically, so you need to stay strong. Getting back to your favorite sport is possible; it just depends on the level and type of the injury you sustained. So just decide that you are going to get through it and nothing will stop you and you will discover that you successfully accomplished it.

So you now have a much better idea about what injury causing back pain is about; more can be found at lower back pain.

Kinesiology tape is used to treat muscle injuries. It is a revolutionary therapeutic elastic style which helps in sports hindering injuries like athletic sprains, strains, and sports injuries usually experience by most athletes. This is essential in ensuring that all skeletal muscles are in good shape in order to perform the best during the competition.

Generally, an athletic tape is a cotton strip with an acrylic adhesive that works by protecting your muscles and preventing unnecessary strain. A kinesiology tape is a type of athletic tape that works in multiple ways to improve health and circulation in ways that traditional athletic tapes cannot compare. This type of athletic tape was developed by Dr. Kenzo Kase, a Japanese chiropractor, in the 1970s. According to Dr. Kase, kinesiology tapes have four major functions: to support the muscle, remove congestion to the flow of body fluids, activate the endogenous analgesic system, and correct joint problems.

Unlike the traditional way of taping muscle and preventing movements in order to avoid further injuries, a kinesiology tape works in a different direction which involves opening of the muscles and allowing full movements. This, as crafted by Dr. Kase helps in allowing the skin to breathe and allow lymphatic fluid to flow around and cleanse the inflamed tissue.

The use of kinesiology tapes provide four major benefits, namely, psychological, microcirculatory, structural, and neurosensory. The psychological benefit refers to the decrease in fear of movement brought about by the strain as the use of this tape allows more stability and support. Athletes who still want to continue training and competition can greatly benefit from this. In the microcirculatory level, apparent and immediate reductions in swelling and inflammation can be seen during the initial use of the tape. The muscle joint on the other hand allows athletes a safe, healthy range of motion which can benefit them structurally. Finally, relief from pain usually associated with injuries is considered as kinesiology tapes’ neurosensory benefit.

Kinesiology tapes are available in different shapes and sizes which people can use and choose from depending on the situation. The most popular types of this tape are the tape rolls, precut tape strips, and precut for specific body parts. The first type which is the tape roll can be mostly seen used in health care settings as this required in specialized applications and is recommended for used of those already familiar with its uses. On the other hand, precut tape strips are easy to use and can be used by anybody. The tape strips can be easily torn off and then be used either in an “I” or “Y” format. Lastly, we have the precut for specific body parts which requires measuring or cutting in order to be used on a definite part of the body.

Anybody who experiences muscle pains and injuries can benefit from kinesiology tapes. In anyways, this is most beneficial to athletes who despite injuries still love to continue with their sports.

Ginger Spice is a professional volleyball player from Germany. As muscle and joint injuries can sometimes be inevitable while playing, Ginger always has at hand kinesiologie-tapes (kinesiology tapes) to treat her injured muscles.

California houses one of the largest ports in the USA and as a result many thousands of folks work in the maritime industry in this state alone. For a few years, workers had rights and the entitlement to work in a safe environment. However people who worked on maritime vessels didn't have the exact same privileges as a ‘land ‘ employee had and when maritime employees went into global waters they were under the control of Admiralty law. This meant that they were only entitled to file for workers compensation. The issue with this is that though an employee could claim for medical costs and daily expenses, payouts were famously low and did not take into consideration all of the underlying issues or ins and outs of such a claim. This all changed in 1920, when the Jones Act came into being.

This law was passed so that maritime workers could file for compensation that if proved successful, could award them general damages. However the stipulation was the injured person had to prove that the accident that had taken place was a clear result of carelessness on the part of someone else or party. Los Angeles personal injuries lawyers would advise this is the major difference between the strictly land based ‘workers comp ‘ and the Jones Act in that employees could register a claim directly against their employees for unsafe working practices and employers might be held answerable for a breach of duty. Whereas with workers compensation, companies aren't held responsible and no evidence must be provided to make a claim.

Because in most if not all cases, culpability needs to be proven, LA personal injury attorneys who concentrate on maritime law are an excellent point of contact for a maritime worker who feels that they have got a good reason to state a claim.

So as to help the maritime employee, the lawyer will need to gather documented proof surrounding the case, as well as interview witnesses or key staff concerned in the accident. This documentation is something the maritime worker himself may not have accessibility to. Your Los Angeles personal injuries attorneys will also have to liaise with and handle the demands of the barristers who are operating on the behalf of the shipping company and again this is something that an employee who does not absolutely comprehend the complexities of the law might not be able to do alone. Also the lawyers will have accessibility to medical practitioners who will be able to inspect the particular person to see whether they concur with the results of the ship’s doctor. On their findings, the ship’s doctor may actually issue a ‘return to work ‘ slip even if the individual might not feel completely prepared to return to work. This is the reason why it's very important to be examined by an independent medical expert whom the individual may not have access to.

As you can see, the injured person who believes they have a good case to lodge a claim simply would not be in a position to achieve that success all alone. Instead LA personal injury lawyers who is completely experienced in dealing with such matters, and has the financial backing behind them to be well placed to facilitate a case of that type, is a much smarter option.

If the maritime employee is involved with costs, then the majority of law firms operate a ‘contingency charge ‘ suggesting that they only get paid if they're successful. Actually it is a no win, no fee situation. Successful barristers will take their payment out of the compensation delivered and this means that there are no up-front costs involved in any way.

Syndel Smith employed an accident lawyer after his cruising accident and discovered that Los Angeles accident attorneys helped him get his life back on course.

Inversion treatment is a therapy involving anti-gravity. A person’s feet are placed into some tight shoes, or boots, or the knees are placed over something, and the person hangs upside down looking for pain relief. How well does it work? And are there safety issues?

The theory behind inversion treatment is that it alleviates gravitational pressure off of the spine such as the disks and nerve roots. The intervertebral space is increased during the anti-gravity treatment. The treatment is in reality a form of spinal traction, with one’s own body weight providing the traction.

Inversion therapy has been found to be effective for short term back pain relief. There have been some well designed research studies evaluating it for long term relief. Unfortunately these studies have shown it to be ineffective for longer relief. In conjunction with a comprehensive treatment protocol for back pain, inversion therapy may fit in nicely to assist with pain relief.

When individuals hang upside down for the inversion therapy, it may raise one’s blood pressure. So for those who have a problem with blood pressure or heart disease, it should not be part of a treatment plan. Otherwise, it appears to be safe.

The same potential safety hazard holds true for glaucoma, which is a disease where elevated pressures exist in the eye. This may be exacerbated with upside down treatment.

Inversion therapy does not need to include a ninety degree angle, it can be done at less. The treatment may be done twice daily for 20 minutes or so. Those new to the therapy should probably start with a smaller angle, say 30 degrees until comfortable. Most individuals do not need to go beyond 60 degrees for excellent pain relief.

Will inversion therapy help with a bulging disk? Probably not. The inversion will pull arthritic joints and disks apart, allowing individuals to feel symptomatically better for a while. However, it is unlike intermittent traction with spinal decompression treatment where a negative pressure is created inside the disk. This negative pressure pulls in increased oxygen and nutrients to the disc space, allowing for potential healing.

Can inversion therapy help relieve sciatica pain? The answer is potentially yes. The reason is it can in fact pull the discs apart temporarily, which can relieve pain from a pinched nerve. But as mentioned, there is no real evidence that an inversion table sucks back in a herniated disc.

The bottom line is that inversion therapy may allow for short term back pain relief, but long term relief has not been seen. Sciatica pain relief may also be achieved, but as with back pain itself it may simply be short term.

One very common injury among athletes of all ages is a sprained ankle but what most people don’t realize is that athletes are not the only people that get them. Getting a sprained ankle is not that uncommon, all you have to do is roll your ankle which will cause one or more ligaments to at least partially tear. I know this sounds rough but it is not that bad and once you know how to care for a rolled ankle it will be very easy to treat.

The first thing I would like to do is make sure you know one of the best way to avoid spraining your ankle. Something that I would highly recommend is that you tie your shoes tight before you start walking around. The reason for this is because many younger people have found it much easier to simply put on loose shoes when they are going out. All it takes is a small stone or something like that to catch you off guard and make you sprain your ankle.

Advice On Caring For A Rolled Ankle

Use Ice – If you experience any kind of swelling then ice is a must. Ice will help you with reducing the swelling and when done right it can help your ankle heal much faster. It is recommended that you do cycles of 10 minutes with ice and 60 minutes without. The reason you do this is to make sure that you don’t get a cold injury and so that you can also reduce the swelling fast enough.

Ankle Boot – Ankle boots are perfect for people that have a sore ankle that isn’t swollen. What this will do is immobilize your ankle so that it doesn’t reinjure itself. Not everybody will use these because of their size but they do help out quite a bit. My advice would be to wear one for at least 2 weeks, you don’t have to wear it while not walking around, it is mainly used to keep your ankle from moving in the wrong direction.

Ankle Exercises – Something that I highly suggest is that you do some ankle exercises in order to get your ankle to heal quicker and also be stronger on the flip side. The best ankle exercise is called ankle circles and all you do is put your leg out in front of you and rotate your ankle in small circles. I recommend doing this for at least 5 minutes each day and you can even do it in small segments instead of all at once.

I highly recommend that you are always watching what you are doing since the causes for an ankle sprain is so small. Just know that in regards to a sprained ankle you need to do everything you can to treat it so that it will heal quicker.

If you are tired of hurting your ankles and want to know more about how to cure and prevent a sprained ankle then let me show you how it is done

More and more you are seeing professional golfers use chiropractic care to stay at the top of their games. Lori West, how is a professional golfer says that the reason she is still playing golf today is because of chiropractic care. Almost 2 decades ago she visited the chiropractor for the first time and says that it immediately improved her golf game.

As you look at the golf swing, in and of itself, it is quite hard on the back. As you work to perfect your swing it puts a tremendous amount of strain on your spine. This strain comes because as you swing through the golf ball, the hips stop at one point while your shoulders continue to rotate. As a Bellevue chiropractor I see this all the time in my golfing patients. The result is back pain.

Here’s some chiropractic advice. Before your game, do some basic stretches. Stretch out hamstrings and groin area. Put a club across your shoulders and lean left and right. Get in a position of where you would be in a swing and bend left and right. Grab a club behind your back and raise it up, stretching your shoulder muscles. Grab the club backwards – so if you normally swing right-handed, you’d grab it like you’d be swinging left-handed- and take 10 practice swings that way. You’re stretching different muscles and it will help you loosen up considerably. Do neck stretches. Stiff neck muscles inhibit the rest of the body from turning freely. Anything that helps your flexibility eventually helps with your game. As you get older, your swing naturally shortens since the muscles aren’t as supple. During the winter, work on stretching the muscles of the arms, shoulders and back. Flexibility is very important for older golfers.

Also, you have to have good balance if you want to hit the golf ball consistently. A healthy spine is paramount to proper balance and posture. Improve your balance and you’ll improve your consistency. If needed, orthotic stabilizers for your shoes can help improve balance so your swing is better.

Chiropractors care for your body as a whole, not just the back. If you are finding that there is a “kink” in your swing, chiropractic may be just what the swing instructor ordered!
